Of the maybe 20 people immediately around me at the New Year’s Eve show, one was from Chicago; the rest were from everywhere else: students from Boston, record store owners from Detroit, a guy from Ohio who fell in love with GBV listening to Bee Thousand on his morning commute, and a mother of two who promised her husband a blow job, anytime, for two years, in exchange for allowing her to dump the kids on him and fly out for the farewell show.
