In the music business, there are those guys called « A&R » whose job is to link the artist and the record company. But what the hell does this acronym mean ? Steve Albini himself gives the answer in this great piece : Some of your friends are probably already this fucked.

The initials stand for « Artist and Repertoire, » because historically, the A&R staff would select artists to record music that they had also selected, out of an available pool of each. This is still the case, though not openly.
